Toreros Y Sus Trajes: Fernando Ochoa, Bordado De Cruceta

Posted under Toros by Bruno on Tuesday 24 February 2009 at 10:48 pm

Mexican Matador Fernando Ochoa is a far cry from Spanish Matador Fernando Cruz in style. Don’t get me wrong, I consider Ochoa one of the purest of Mexican Matadores. I admire his upright classical style and his consistency with the muleta and estoque. Ochoa is however a very conservative torero in both his Tauromaquia and choice of Trajes de Luces. Opting to don nothing but trajes with a “X” bordado made famous by Luis Procuna (left), Ochoa has established himself as the Jeff Goldblum of Mexican Matadores (“The Fly” reference). The “cruceta” pattern is classical, safe, and traditional. Much like Ochoa’s fighting style. The pattern on the other hand has a different effect when complemented with different colors. His Purple, Black and Blue trajes are by far his better ones, while the gold and grey trajes get lost in the classical pattern. To sum up Mexico’s conservative torero’s choice of the cruceta pattern, Ochoa has worn them for at least 4 years now and only recently has debut more contemporary trajes and bordados. Maybe he will break out in his predictable toreo as well. Fotos de Burladerdos y DBB.

Tell Me Something I Didn’t Know

How would you like to be that guy. The guy who leaves a job and is known by all his coworkers, colleagues and fans (yes even them) that he was the biggest fuck up of his time. The past 8 years in the American political scene were a complete meltdown of political efficiency, accountability, legitimacy and worst of all competency. So it was confirmed by CNN this morning, George W. Bush is one of the worst Presidents in United States history. Voted upon not by the opposition, but rather by historians! You can run W., but you can’t hide because I’m sure this is one of many titles of this nature to follow.
Historians Give Bush Bad Early Verdict
From CNN Ticker Producer Alexander Mooney. Historians have ranked Bush the seventh worst president. (CNN) – Former President Bush has only been out of office for less than a month, but historians have already delivered an early verdict on his presidency. In a survey of over 60 historians conducted by C-SPAN, the 43rd president ranks the seventh worst (and 36th overall) in the nation’s history, just edging out Millard Fillmore. Fillmore, the one-term president who served from 1850-53, assumed the presidency after Zachary Taylor died in office and was unable to win it in his own right. Worst on the list is James Buchanan, the one-term Democrat who served from 1857–1861 and has been criticized for not doing more to prevent Southern states from seceding. At the top of the list, the historians rank Abraham Lincoln as the best president in the nation’s history, edging out George Washington and Franklin Roosevelt. As for other recent presidents: Bill Clinton comes in at 15th, George H.W. Bush at 18th, Ronald Reagan at 10th, and Jimmy Carter at 25th.

Mejor Faena de 2008 Sin Muleta

It didn’t take place in Sevilla, Madrid or Valencia. This amazing faena took place in a tentadero. Matador Alejandro Talavante shows in the video below how one does not need a muleta to turn in a good faena.
