Tell Me Something I Didn’t Know

Posted under Politics by Bruno on Monday 16 February 2009 at 10:35 am

How would you like to be that guy. The guy who leaves a job and is known by all his coworkers, colleagues and fans (yes even them) that he was the biggest fuck up of his time. The past 8 years in the American political scene were a complete meltdown of political efficiency, accountability, legitimacy and worst of all competency. So it was confirmed by CNN this morning, George W. Bush is one of the worst Presidents in United States history. Voted upon not by the opposition, but rather by historians! You can run W., but you can’t hide because I’m sure this is one of many titles of this nature to follow.
Historians Give Bush Bad Early Verdict
From CNN Ticker Producer Alexander Mooney. Historians have ranked Bush the seventh worst president. (CNN) – Former President Bush has only been out of office for less than a month, but historians have already delivered an early verdict on his presidency. In a survey of over 60 historians conducted by C-SPAN, the 43rd president ranks the seventh worst (and 36th overall) in the nation’s history, just edging out Millard Fillmore. Fillmore, the one-term president who served from 1850-53, assumed the presidency after Zachary Taylor died in office and was unable to win it in his own right. Worst on the list is James Buchanan, the one-term Democrat who served from 1857–1861 and has been criticized for not doing more to prevent Southern states from seceding. At the top of the list, the historians rank Abraham Lincoln as the best president in the nation’s history, edging out George Washington and Franklin Roosevelt. As for other recent presidents: Bill Clinton comes in at 15th, George H.W. Bush at 18th, Ronald Reagan at 10th, and Jimmy Carter at 25th.

¿Vikings?… I’m Over It, Sorta: Tarvaris Must Go!

Posted under Temas Generales by Bruno on Thursday 8 January 2009 at 12:29 pm

Drifting from Toros, Vino y Futból… I believe if your being paid Millions to Quarterback in the NFL and your team is trailing, the expectation is to let alone attempt, but definitely know how to rally your team with 1:50 left in a game. What the fuck was Tarvaris Jackson doing this past Sunday 1/4/08 in the Playoff game versus those nasty Philadelphia Eagles? This is not to say I expected Jackson to manage the clock with no timeouts like John Elway, Steve Young or even as Philip Rivers did the day before for the San Diego Chargers. All I’m saying is, why not spike the ball to stop the clock, throw to the sidelines, quick snap it… anything. Jackson’s body language was that of a boy trying to rack leaves on a windy day and not wanting to be out there! I say, Jackson has had his opportunities, get the fuck rid of him. Kerry Collins, Kurt Warner and Matt Cassel are all gonna be free agents. Anybody who knows what the Hell to do, will do. On another note and I promise no more American Football until the Super Bowl, I’m starting my slow trot to maybe think about jumping on the bandwagon of the San Diego Chargers. Gotta love the effort the team put in on Saturday. Teams are actually concerned about playing them now. Next Pittsburgh, if not Vikings in 2009!

Mommy Sarah, Where Do Turkeys Come From?

Posted under Politics by Bruno on Monday 1 December 2008 at 11:05 am

As Sarah Palin relaxes in her post Election life up in Alaska, this typical interview of her rambling and taking so long to not say anything has to take the cake. Unaware of what is happening in the background, Palin continues with her ramblings as two guajolotes get thier neck slit. Come to think of it, can you imaging her being interviewed in front of Guantanamo Bay while our finest washboard a couple of Terrorist in orange jumpsuits.

Plazas De Andalucia y Rabo De Toro

Posted under Temas Generales,Toros by Bruno on Friday 14 November 2008 at 1:23 am

I saw this interesting docu-sorta-tourist show, Saboriando Cultura on Canalsur.es on the different Plazas de Toros in Andalucia. It includes a recipe of the very interesting dish, Rabo de Toro. It reminded me of the time we were in Cordoba and I made it a point to try Rabo de Toro. The restaurant was just around the corner from the Plaza de Toros Las Califas. The restaurant was said to be frequented by “El Cordobes” in his day and had him and Manolete all over the walls. It was really cool. The Rabo de Toro was good too.

Obama Infomercial

Posted under Politics by Bruno on Monday 3 November 2008 at 11:08 am

Barack Obama purchased 30 primetime minutes on Thursday October 30th and ran what some called an infomercial. All major networks picked it up except CNN. Instead they chose to run an interview with Larry King and John McCain who proceeded whine about how Obama was using public funds to finance the infomercial. To date McCain sits 6% points behind Obama as he can see the writing on the wall. Get ready Good O’l Boys, change is coming!

After a brief derailment, DBB is back online. I will soon be redesigning the site with the same Toros, Futbol, Vino and Political reports, opinions and off the wall observations. Maybe less brown next time. In the mean time, enjoy this jewel which was forwarded to me.

Running For VP? Know Your Supreme Court Trivia

Posted under Politics by Bruno on Thursday 2 October 2008 at 10:27 am

On the morning of the VP Debate, I am mortified for Sarah Palin. I can’t stand her, but as an American I am embarrassed for her. How can the GOP be confident in her lack of preparedness she is displaying in her interviews? Might as well dress her in a burka and mute her like her Afghani sisters because everything that comes out of this Governor’s mouth is digging a bigger grave for the McCain campaign. No wonder the GOP has bent over backwards to keep her away from reporters. In the Katie Couric interview, Palin continually stumbles over her replies to Couric’s questions which any politician, especially a Vice Presidential candidate is expected to answer. When asked to name other Supreme Court decisions she doesn’t agree with other than Roe vs. Wade, Palin’s characteristic “dear in the headlights” look was classic. Tonight’s Debate will be a bloodbath. Biden must be licking his chops.

After Yesterday, A Reminder: 110 Days To Go

Posted under Politics by Bruno on Tuesday 30 September 2008 at 11:30 am

Can Dubya fuck it up anymore? I wanna buy a new car, I can’t. My wife and I are thinking of moving to a newer house, we can’t. My wife’s cousin was killed in Iraq. My President wants to help his Good O’l Boys Corporate buddies while I peek out my window and see foreclosed properties all down my street. To top it off, a wrinkled old man I use to be a fan of because he had a “fuck off” attitude, picks Tina Fey as his running mate because she has a vagina and lives across the street from Russia! I’m pissed. George Bush has fucked up this country, and now the world will suffer in there pocket books as we have. One question: George senior, was it worth stealing the election in 2000? Are you proud of your son? As a reminder for the time we have left with this fucked up ex-cheerleader cokehead, I offer my BushBeGone Countdown Widget.

Suspend The Campaign: WTF

Posted under Politics by Bruno on Friday 26 September 2008 at 7:29 am

I truly believe the unpredictability (“maverick” if you will) tendencies of John McCain are surfacing. First he has the balls to bail on Dave and head to D.C. because the U.S. Economic Crisis needed his attention and therefore he was “suspending the campaign”. As if. Isn’t having the ability to multi task US and World affairs a requirement for the office of U.S. President? So the McCain roadshow shows up in Washington and causes havoc amongst House Republicans. Can you say “implosion”. Gotta love it!

Cupcakes vs. Muffins: iPhone Has The Answer

Posted under Temas Generales by Bruno on Tuesday 16 September 2008 at 12:53 am

There is an on going debate at work what the difference is between cupcakes and muffins. Frosting versus nuts. Muffin tops versus paper cups. Flour versus premix. Either way, the above cupcakes have to be the coolest cupcakes ever!

Reformed Maverick: Why I’ll Vote Obama

Posted under Politics by Bruno on Monday 8 September 2008 at 11:22 pm

I use to live in Tucson, Arizona. I remember reading about and admiring John McCain’s reformer agenda despite him being a Republican. Although his politics were from the right, he definitely was not a Bible thumping whack job. So I thought. Well after a couple of unsuccessful campaigns to be President of the United States, the political whore which John McCain would become and is now on the Republican ticket is best illustrated in the report below. Enjoy.

Oh Come On, Not Even Close

Posted under Temas Generales by Bruno on Monday 28 July 2008 at 11:15 pm

How hard can it be? I’ve posted about this before. You walk up. You order. They ask your name. Bada bing. If its noisy and they are courteous, they’ll ask your name again. The danger there lies within. The baristas at Starbuck’s have provided me with plenty of laughs in the past. They never seem to get my name right. Bruno. B-R-U-N-O. Not Brun, not Bernal, or even not Bernard. I’ve had Bernice. The best and probably most outrageous was last year, Prune. Well, coming in a close second was one I got last week. Barone. Well, I am part Sicilian :-)

DBB Back From Vacaciones

Posted under Temas Generales by Bruno on Tuesday 1 July 2008 at 12:58 am

We took some time off away from work, school, bulls, life and went to Hawai’i to relax. I actually worked a couple of days but after that we hit all the tourist spots along with driving the rental to off the beaten path discoveries. Good times were had snorkeling at Hanauma Bay, eating shrimp at Punalu’u's Shrimp Shack and Mango Pancakes at Diamond Head Market Grill in Waikiki.

Christian Right vs. Starbuck’s

Posted under Temas Generales by Bruno on Thursday 22 May 2008 at 3:27 pm

An interesting battle is brewing. While going through my email today, I came across a story about a Christian group leading a boycott against Starbuck’s. It seems the new logo of everyones favorite coffee house is offensive. The new brown logo was released as the new Starbuck’s Pike Place Roast hit the stores in April. The logo design itself reverts to an earlier rendition which showed a Greek Siren bare breasted. In the new version, the same Siren has her nipples covered by her hair. The original designs exposed areola had generated enough controversy for the coffee company’s cover up. The Christian do gooders weren’t satisfied with that. Apparently the Siren offensive pose is spreading her legs like a prostitute ready for gentlemen callers. I could not believe anyone would make such a fuss about this but I was further astounded when I found out the Christian group is from none other than San Diego, California. Great.

Irish Coffee: Hold The Coffee And Whiskey

Posted under Temas Generales by Bruno on Thursday 13 March 2008 at 1:06 am

With four days left, I realized this is gonna be a tough St. Patrick’s Day. Here’s the story. I gave up coffee and my wife gave up alcohol for lent. Put those together and what you have is an Irish Coffee-less St. Patty’s Day. Having realized this, I clicked on a Fine Living link I received via email and was appalled (inna a wine snob kinda way) at what I saw. The link provided me with what appeared to be a video of an Irish Coffee recipe. OMG. Whipped Creme out of a can! You gotta understand, I’ve been a connoisseur of Irish Coffees for 20 plus years. I’ve made my pilgrimage to the The Buena Vista Cafe in San Francisco, home of the first Irish Coffee made in the U.S.. If you haven’t been, you should. So I did what every mild mannered web surfer would do, I went to YouTube. I found this excellent video (below) of Irish Coffees being made at the Buena Vista. Oh man I can taste it now. Well maybe not now. I gotta wait until after Easter. Enjoy.

Your Holding The Glass Wrong Hillary!

Posted under Politics,Vino by Bruno on Friday 22 February 2008 at 1:57 am

During a recent break in the Primary action, Presidential Candidate Hillary Clinton poured herself a glass of red wine and talked to the traveling press aboard Air Force One. Seems the topic of conversation before centering on the primaries was about Hillary’s choice in booze. Hillary mentioned she had a preference for Ales, in particular Blue Moon Belgian Ale. Its great to see this side of a public figure, I just wish the article dove more into what wines Bubba and Hillary prefer. Well, if the primaries continue to progress the way they are and Barrak Obama wins the Democratic nomination, I’m gonna have to buy me a couple of six packs of Blue Moon and gain the nerve to cast my vote for John McCain. There, I said it Brian! I will vote for McCain because you gotta love anybody who pisses off conservatives the way McCain does.
